Season: Harvested late summer through fall and stored through the winter
Peak months: Harvested August-November
Uses: The purple top turnip is arguably the best known turnip variety, probably because they store well into the colder months when other vegetables are scarce. Try them mashed and buttered or roasted in a root vegetable medley. Turnips can also be pickled if you want them to last even longer.
