Peak months: September-November

Uses: Frisée packs quite a punch and usually isn’t used as the sole base of a salad. Try it instead as one component of a salad mix. The bitter green is usually served raw, and while it can be lightly sautéed, be prepared for it to cook down quickly. Eat frisée leaves as a salad bed for a warm dish or in a side salad with nuts, orange, and/or root veggies.
