Veggie Type: Leafy Green

Season: All year

Peak months: N/A

Uses: Most bags of seasonal greens are meant to be eaten raw in salads/wraps, but others are labeled as cooking greens and are meant to be cooked. If you’re wondering what to do with a bag of mixed greens, check to see if there’s any lettuce in the mix. Lettuce is a sure sign that your greens were meant to be eaten raw. If you have a bag of zesty salad greens (e.g. arugula, dandelion greens) try eating them with a milder, cheaper salad green (e.g. leaf lettuce) to stretch them further. Mixed greens are a great way to add variety and flavor to an ordinary salad.
