Bundle of celery on a dark wood background

Veggie Type: Stalk

Season: Late Summer-Fall

Peak months: September-October

Uses: Chop off the whitened base and the leaves and you have a quick, low-maintenance snack Make sure to wash your celery thoroughly (after separating the stalks) to remove dirt hiding between the stalks. Add peanut butter and raisins to make “ants on a log,” or chop and mix into hummus, tuna salad, egg salad, or cream cheese to add crunch to your sandwich. Celery leaves are flavorful and can be used as you would a fresh herb. Chop, dice or eat them whole.
