When you’re lucky enough to have a big batch of freshly harvested basil, I recommend storing it uncovered on your countertop.
Trim the ends and drop the basil in a jar or vase with some water.
Place near a window if possible so it can get sunlight.
Change the water as needed and use within 4-5 days.
Pinch off the leaves you need and give them a rinse before using.
Toss basil pieces in any salad (including fruit salad), tomato dishes, pasta, beans, and more.
What is this vegetable and what do I do with it?!
Sometimes at the farmer’s market or in a CSA box you may come across a vegetable you’ve never seen before. Or perhaps you know the name of a vegetable but you’ve never cooked with it and aren’t sure what to do with it. That’s where our Veggie Gallery comes in handy! CLICK HERE to visit the gallery.
